Miniphlebectomy

Miniphlebectomy is a minimally invasive surgical method for removing superficial varicose veins through tiny skin punctures. It is a modern procedure with a high cosmetic effect, fast healing, and minimal discomfort for the patient.

What is miniphlebectomy?

Miniphlebectomy is a gentle outpatient procedure in which branches of varicose veins that cannot be effectively treated with sclerotherapy or laser are removed under local anesthesia. The doctor extracts the veins using a fine hook through tiny 1–2 mm punctures in the skin – no cuts and no stitches required. The procedure usually takes 30 to 60 minutes, is performed without hospitalization, and the patient can go home the same day.

Miniphlebectomy provides a high cosmetic effect, low risk of complications, and can be combined with other treatments, such as EVLA or sclerotherapy. Patients can walk immediately after the procedure, and sick leave is usually not necessary. We recommend wearing compression stockings for 7–10 days after the procedure. Mild bruising or stiffness at the puncture site is common and temporary.
