Comprehensive gynecological examination
A comprehensive gynecological examination is key for prevention, early detection of changes, and overall care of women's health. It is recommended to have it at least once a year, even if you have no problems.
Come in for a comprehensive gynecological examination – prevention and screening make sense.
Prevention is the foundation of women's health. Regular gynecological checkups can save your health. Cytology can detect changes in the cervix early on, just as ultrasound examinations can help detect cysts, fibroids, or other changes. Come to Vasmedic for an examination – we can give you an appointment within a week.
A comprehensive gynecological examination without cytology includes an initial medical history and consultation with a doctor, a gynecological examination on the chair, a palpation examination, and a basic preventive check-up. This option is suitable for women who have had a cytology test done elsewhere or who do not need one in the given year.
A comprehensive gynecological examination with cytology includes everything from the previous option plus a classic cytology smear from the cervix. Cytology is used to prevent cervical cancer and detect precancerous changes early. It is the recommended preventive option for most women.
A comprehensive gynecological examination with LBC (liquid-based cytology) includes everything from the cytology option plus modern liquid cytology. This method provides higher accuracy and sample quality, reduces the risk of unevaluable findings, and allows for possible HPV testing from the same sample. It is the most accurate form of preventive gynecological examination currently available.
Every comprehensive gynecological examination includes an assessment of the cervix using colposcopy and an ultrasound examination of the uterus and ovaries.

Instructions before a gynecological examination
At Vasmedic, we emphasize a discreet, gentle, and professional approach. To ensure that your gynecological examination is as accurate and comfortable as possible, we recommend following a few simple guidelines before your visit.
Wash yourself with clean water in the morning as usual, but avoid douches, intimate gels, or disinfectants that could affect the results. The ideal time for a preventive examination is in the first half of the menstrual cycle, approximately between the 6th and 12th day. However, if you are experiencing acute problems such as pain, discharge, or inflammation, do not hesitate to contact us—we will adjust the appointment to suit your situation. It is recommended to refrain from sexual intercourse the day before the examination, as semen or lubricating gel can interfere with the results of the cytological examination. Similarly, do not use any vaginal medications or creams for at least 48 hours beforehand – if you have already started treatment, inform your doctor upon arrival. Please bring your records from previous check-ups (if you have them) and a list of medications you are currently taking to the examination. If you have an intrauterine device, are pregnant, or have recently given birth, please let us know in advance—this will help us tailor the examination to your specific needs.
Frequently asked questions
Not sure about something? Answers to the most frequently asked questions will help you take the first step toward the care you deserve.
A comprehensive gynecological examination includes a conversation with your doctor about your health, menstrual cycle and any problems you may have. It includes a vaginal examination, including a colposcopy to assess the cervix, and an ultrasound examination of the uterus and ovaries - either transvaginally or through the abdomen (abdominally). The doctor will also provide you with advice on contraception, menopause or pregnancy planning.
A comprehensive examination may include cytology (a smear from the cervix to prevent cervical cancer) or other laboratory tests, if recommended by the doctor.
A gynecological examination is important at every stage of a woman's life. For adolescent girls, the first visit to a gynecologist is recommended around the age of 15 or after the start of sexual activity. Women of reproductive age should have regular annual check-ups. Care should not stop even after menopause, as prevention of tumors and hormonal changes is key during this period.
Regular gynecological examinations are not only about prevention - they can detect serious diseases such as cervical cancer, fibroids, cysts, endometriosis or PCOS in time. They also help prevent infections and chronic inflammation, control hormonal changes and address any irregularities in time. For women planning a pregnancy, they also represent an important support for reproductive health.
Prevention is the best protection. Don't forget about regular gynecological check-ups.
