Vaccination
Vaccination is a fundamental part of preventive care in internal medicine. It helps protect adult patients from infectious diseases, which can have a more serious course or complications in chronically ill people.
At the Vasmedic clinic, we provide a complete vaccination service - from consultation, through the selection of the appropriate vaccine, to the actual administration and monitoring of the effectiveness of the vaccination.
Vaccinations as part of internal care
Internal physicians at the Vasmedic clinic focus on targeted vaccinations for patients with chronic diseases, weakened immunity or the elderly.
The goal is to reduce the risk of serious infections that could worsen the underlying disease (e.g. COPD, asthma, heart failure, diabetes).
Recommended vaccinations include:
1. Flu vaccination
Recommended annually in the fall.
Protects against seasonal flu, which can cause serious complications in patients at risk (pneumonia, heart decompensation or diabetes).
2. Pneumococcal vaccination
Recommended for patients with chronic lung or heart disease, diabetics and people over 65.
Protects against bacterial infections such as pneumonia, meningitis or sepsis.
Vaccination can be combined with the flu vaccine.
3. Covid-19 vaccination
Strengthens immunity and reduces the risk of severe disease.
Revaccination is recommended especially for the elderly and chronically ill.
4. Hepatitis A and B vaccination
Suitable for patients with liver disease, healthcare workers or people traveling to risk areas.
The combined vaccine provides long-term protection.
5. Tick-borne encephalitis vaccination
Recommended for everyone who spends time in nature.
Prevents serious tick-borne encephalitis.
Vaccination in chronic patients
Vaccination in chronic patients
Patients with chronic pulmonary, cardiovascular or metabolic diseases are at greater risk of infection than the healthy population.
Therefore, at the Vasmedic clinic, we offer an individual vaccination plan based on:
- current health status,
- medications used (e.g. immunosuppressants),
- age and presence of other diseases,
- recommendations of professional societies (Czech Society of Pneumology and Internal Medicine).
