Interpretation of laboratory tests
Interpretation of laboratory tests is a key part of diagnostics, helping to understand the results of laboratory tests in the context of the patient's health. At the Vasmedic clinic, we offer comprehensive laboratory tests and their professional evaluation or evaluation of previously performed laboratory tests directly by an internist - with an emphasis on accuracy, clarity and an individual approach.
What does the interpretation of laboratory results mean
Laboratory tests provide important information about organ function, inflammation, infections, immunity and blood components.
However, numerical values alone without professional interpretation can be misleading - therefore professional interpretation is necessary.
At the Vasmedic clinic, we explain the results:
- in the context of your symptoms and medical history,
- with regard to further examinations (spirometry, X-ray, FENO test, etc.),
- and in connection with the treatment plan or disease monitoring.
The goal is for the patient to know exactly what the results mean and what impact they have on their health.
The most common types of laboratory tests
As part of diagnostics at the Vasmedic clinic, we perform or interpret:
Blood tests
- Inflammatory parameters (CRP, leukocytes, sedimentation rate)
- Cell count
- Liver and kidney tests - for monitoring organ function during treatment
- Glycemia and lipid profile - for metabolic diseases
- Allergy tests - specific IgE, total IgE
Blood gas tests
- assessment of oxygenation and removal of carbon dioxide from the body,
- used in patients with shortness of breath, COPD, asthma or during oxygen therapy.
Microbiological tests
- identification of bacteria, viruses or fungi in mucus, urine or blood,
- determination of sensitivity to antibiotics for targeted treatment.
Cytological and histological tests
- evaluation of cell samples
- important in cases of suspected lung cancer.
Why blood tests are performed
Blood tests provide doctors and patients with key information about their overall health.
It is used to:
- detect inflammatory and infectious diseases,
- check liver, kidney and heart function,
- monitor sugar and cholesterol levels,
- assess the immune system,
- diagnose anemia and blood disorders,
- monitor the effectiveness of treatment (e.g. for lung diseases or diabetes).
Blood tests are often the first step in determining the correct diagnosis and setting up treatment.

- Sedimentation (FW): slower, but shows long-term inflammation.
- Leukocytes: increased levels indicate an active immune response.
3. Metabolic tests
- Glycemia (blood sugar) – diabetes screening.
- Lipid profile – cholesterol and fat levels.

- Help detect detoxification or metabolic disorders during treatment.
5. Immunological and allergological tests
- Total and specific IgE antibodies – confirmation of allergies.
